How to Make Money Blogging About Books

You are likely passionate about books and read quite a bit to want to start a book blog in the first place. That is great because your passion is what you’ll need to deliver great content.

There are plenty of bibliophiles that want to read your book reviews as well as your thoughts on authors, genres, upcoming book releases, and more.

When you have visitors, you are able to earn income. I will outline some common ways that you can make money blogging about books.

Join the Amazon Affiliate Program

It would make sense to sign up as an affiliate of one of the largest online booksellers in the world. Amazon’s affiliate program is called Amazon Associates.

It is free to sign up (all affiliate programs are) and once you are approved, you can begin using your Amazon affiliate links to link to your book recommendations.

When a visitor clicks on any of your affiliate links and makes a purchase on, you get credit for the sale and earn a commission.

Ad Networks

As your blog gains more and more traffic, your page views will also increase. This will enable you to apply for ad networks such as AdThrive and Mediavine.

Many bloggers make a full-time income from these ad networks alone.

Other Types of Affiliate Products

There are hundreds of thousands of affiliate programs that you can join. There are courses that teach people how to publish Kindle books that have an affiliate program.

There are audiobook affiliate programs, other booksellers that offer affiliate programs, software that helps people self-publish books, and more.

Topics to Write About for Your Book Blog

You can write book reviews of each of the books that you read. You can interview local authors and post it as a blog post.

You can review book-related products that you use such as eBook readers, book lights, etc. You don’t have to limit your writing to only books.

If you also read magazines, you can talk about a good article you’ve read. Here are some other ideas:

  • review audiobooks
  • create tips on how to read more books
  • start a book club and write about your book selections
  • dissect specific chapters of a book
  • write about self-publishing
  • review local book stores
