When I decided to create a business online, I already knew that I would be creating a website. Not just any website, but a niche blog.
Why a blog? Blogging is a super duper low-cost thing to do. I had been laid off from my job and I knew that starting a blog for profit would be my way out of the rat-race altogether.
I’m happy to report that thanks to my hard work and consistent effort, blogging has set me free from the 9-to-5. It can do the same for you.
Keep reading below to learn how to start blogging for profit right now.
Why Most Bloggers Fail
Don’t listen to anyone that says it is hard to make money blogging or that blogging is dead.
There are many bloggers that are making full-time incomes from their blogs that would strongly disagree.
The number one reason why most bloggers fail is due to the fact that they give up. You have to understand that blogging is not a fast way to earn income online.
It is a long-term strategy. You put in the work now and reap the rewards later. That is how it works.
When I started niche blogging, I knew that it would take a year or longer before I’d begin earning any income with my blog.
The reason is that creating content means you are relying on SEO (search engine optimization). SEO takes time.
It involves keyword research and creating quality content on a consistent basis. As time passes, some of your blog posts will begin ranking in the search engines.
When I meet people that ask me what I do for a living and I explain that I make money from my blogs, they perk up and want to know more.
After I explain that blogging requires writing on a regular basis and that the income doesn’t happen right away, they are already turned off.
I’m always baffled by it because most of them want to quit their jobs but they aren’t willing to put in the work to free themselves.
All businesses require work whether you work for someone else’s business or work for your own business.
How Do Bloggers Make Money From Blogging?
There are a variety of ways in which bloggers make money with their blogs. However, I can tell you that a majority of them are using affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is the promotion of another company’s products and/or services in exchange for a commission when a sale is made.
I monetize my niche websites using affiliate products. Many full-time bloggers are using affiliate products as well.
As a niche blogger, it is one of the best monetization strategies. You are already blogging about a specific topic.
It is then easy to recommend products and services related to your topic. When you do this, you have the ability to earn commissions when visitors buy the products/services you recommend.
There are over 100,000+ affiliate programs that you can join so there is bound to be products that you can promote from your blog.
How Starting a Blog for Profit Can Change Your Life
The first thing you’ll need to do is figure out your niche. Choosing a niche is not difficult but many people get stuck with this process.
The easiest way to choose to niche is by filling in the blank below:
“I want to help people_____________”
Think about things that you enjoy or are very knowledgeable in. How can you provide value to the people within your niche?
It is as simple as that. Once you have your niche narrowed down, you can then search for an affiliate product or service that is related to your niche.
I recommend choosing a product or service that you personally use and like. I’ve found it difficult to recommend products and services that I have not personally used.
It is not required but I think you too will find it easier to recommend products that you’ve used in the past or continue to use now.
Now that you have your niche and the product(s) that you want to promote, your job begins by creating helpful content on a consistent basis.
This is the part where many people become frustrated and impatient. Believe me, I became frustrated as well and wondered when my blogs would start earning income.
That is why I encourage people not to give up. Had I quit blogging too soon, I’d likely still have a job.
I view every piece of content that I create as an employee that works for me 24 hours a day. The blogs that I create are virtual real estate.
I invest the time now to create passive income in the future. It is a long-term strategy that can literally change your life if you are willing to put in the work.
When people frown at the thought of writing all the time, I almost have to laugh. What other type of online business can provide the time-freedom that blogging can?
Once your blog is earning a consistent income, it can do so for years to come. If you get your blog to earning a full-time income you no longer have to be concerned with:
- Clocking in and out
- Requesting permission to use vacation days
- Calling in sick
- Waking up to an alarm clock
- Living for the weekends
- Asking for a raise
- Working overtime
- Being late
- Worrying about losing your job
You Will Never Be Ready, It Will Never Be Perfect, Just Do It!
I’m nobody special. The only difference between me and someone else that tried blogging and failed is that I didn’t give up.
I wanted my time-freedom more than anything else. My desire to quit working for other people was so strong that I was determined to work as long as it took to reach my goal.
Don’t wait for the perfect time to start. When I started I had just been laid off from an office job and got a retail job to make ends meet.
I started off choosing a niche that was all wrong for me. I’ve made mistakes along the way, I’ve learned how to do things better.
However, through it all, I remained determined and didn’t give up. I stay consistent with my writing and now I have online assets (my blogs) that produce passive income.
I don’t mean to sound cheesy but if little ol’ me can do this, you can too. Best of all, I’m happy to help anyone that is ready to get started.
