When I decided to write about this topic, I had no idea just how many blogging courses were available online.
It really amazed me that so many of them existed and the cool thing is, many of them targeted a different audience.
This is why when asking “are blogging courses worth it?“, it really does depend on what you are trying to accomplish.
I will break down some of the courses which are available and why you would choose them.
Are Blogging Courses Worth It? Why Pay to Learn How to Blog?
Why would anyone pay money to learn how to blog? There are many reasons why. However, one of the primary reasons is to make a living online.
There are many bloggers that make a full-time income from writing on their blogs. Although it may seem simple enough to grab a free blog and start writing, there is more to it than that.
If your intent is to make money from your blog, there are important things to learn about SEO and how to rank in the search engines.
Here is a small list of things to learn when starting a blog:
- Niche selection
- Keyword research
- Writing for conversions
- Blog post length
- Blog post frequency
- Social networking
- Email marketing
Sure, you can look this stuff up online for free but then how are you sure you are getting the most updated information?
Besides that, when you are trying to become successful, it makes sense to learn from those who have already achieved what you are after.
A good blogging course will have all of the information you need in one place. Most courses are self-paced and offer support in the form of a forum for questions.
I’m a firm believer in increasing one’s knowledge in their chosen profession. Although I have been blogging off and on for years, there was still a buttload of stuff I had to learn.
In the past, I ran a fitness blog that achieved over 1,000 visitors daily. Not astronomical numbers but it did allow me to get a ton of free swag and even make some money from it.
My problem was I didn’t know how to make a living with that blog. Maybe that is where you are finding yourself as well.
Whether you are a blogging newbie or experienced but spinning your wheels on how to earn income from your blog, a decent blogging course can do wonders for your business.
What are Some of the Professional Blogging Courses Online?
When doing my research, I was actually quite surprised at how many different courses are available.
There are a lot of great courses out there all catering to different needs. Want to start a food blog, travel blog, or creative writing blog?
There are courses for almost everything you can think of. Here are some interesting ones that I discovered:
This blogging course is offered by a lifestyle and beauty blogger named Neely. She has been blogging for 6 years and it is her full-time job. What I like about her courses is that she keeps the class size very small in order to provide individual attention. Her courses are held via Google Hangouts.
This course specializes in travel blogging. There many travel bloggers that earn a living from their blogs. Imagine earning full-time income and funding your trips by blogging your personal experiences. Matthew Kepnes is the creator of the course and has a super successful travel blog of his own at nomadicmatt.com. If you want to learn the ropes about travel blogging, this is probably the guy to learn from.
I know the types of success you can achieve from having a food blog. This course specializes in learning how to start, grow, and monetize your food blog. It is run by a team of food bloggers, however, the founders are Lindsay and Bjork Ostrom. They grew their food blog into their primary source of income. Registration is currently closed as of this writing.
I found this course interesting because the creator, Addi Ganley, focuses on using Pinterest and affiliate marketing to create a passive income stream. This is a different take on how to earn money from your blog. Enrollment is currently closed as of this writing but will open up again this year.
This course focuses on the creation of niche websites in order to earn income online. I can relate a lot to this particular course because it is how I earn income online. You will learn how to do niche market research, how to build your website, drive traffic to it, monetize it, and earn a consistent income.
For as many paid blogging courses there are, you can still find a lot of free courses offered as well.
Most free courses make their money when you buy the web hosting they recommend and a lot of free courses are not nearly as in-depth as a paid course is.
You can test drive the service and at least find out if a paid service is a good fit for what you want to accomplish with blogging.
